RH Services is excited to partner with General Practitioners and Specialists seeking funding to establish Healthcare Centres in peri-urban and underserved areas of South Africa. Below is the framework that will be used to evaluate and manage healthcare provider financing for these centres. Applicants are advised to review it carefully and ensure their application documentation meet the outlined requirements.

    • Brief overview of the proposed practice or             expansion

    • Key objectives and anticipated impact

    • Summary of funding requirements​

​b. Market Analysis

    • Demographic and patient volume analysis

    • Existing healthcare infrastructure in the area

    • Identified gaps in healthcare services

​

​c. Services Offered

    • Description of medical services provided

    • Specialised offerings (e.g., chronic disease             management, maternity services)

    • Potential collaboration with specialists or               allied healthcare professionals​

​

​d. Operational Plan

    • Practice location and accessibility

    • Staffing plan (doctors, nurses, administrators,         etc.)

    • Equipment and technology requirements

    • Operating hours and patient flow                             management

 

​​e. Financial Plan

    • Start-up costs and capital expenditure

    • Acquisition Costs (if existing centre)

    • Revenue model and patient payment                     structure (cash, medical aid, NHIs, etc.)

    • Three-year financial projections (P&L, cash           flow, balance sheet)

    • Break-even analysis

​​f. Risk Assessment & Mitigation Plan

    • Potential risks (regulatory, market,                           operational) and mitigation strategies

​

​​g. Use of Funds

    • Breakdown of how the funding will be                     allocated (rent, salaries, medical                             equipment, etc.)

    • Justification for each expense

Business Case Requirements for Applicants

RH Services​ proposes that each applicant submit a detailed business case to ensure feasibility, sustainability, and alignment with the Fund’s objectives. The business case should include:

Catchment Areas and Competition Analysis

​

​​a.  Required Analysis

     • Geographic catchment area determination              (urban, peri-urban, rural)

     • Population size and density

     • Healthcare demand vs. existing supply

     • Competitor landscape analysis (number                and types of nearby facilities, pricing                      models, patient satisfaction levels)

​

​b.  Methodology

     • GIS Mapping: Identify underserved areas              and population clusters

     • Existing healthcare infrastructure in the area

     • Identified gaps in healthcare services​​​

Location Evaluation Framework RH Services proposes the following structured approach to assess and validate locations:

​

​​​a.  Demographic Statistics

     • Population size and age distribution

     • Disease burden analysis (e.g., chronic                illness prevalence)

     • Socioeconomic indicators (income levels,            employment rate, insurance coverage)

​

​​b.  Healthcare Coverage Assessment

     • Number of existing healthcare providers              (public & private)

     • Patient-to-doctor ratio

     • Gaps in service provision

​

​​c.   Medical Aid & Insurance Coverage

     • Percentage of insured vs. uninsured                    patients

     • Analysis of reimbursement rates and claim          rejections in the area

​

​​​a. Each applicant should submit a comprehensive CV including:

     • Educational qualifications (MBChB or equivalent)

     • HPCSA registration

     • Postgraduate training or specialisations

     • Work experience (minimum 1 year preferred)

     • Prior practice ownership/management experience

       (if applicable)     

     • Evidence of continuous professional development

Doctor’s CV and Experience Requirements

​

Breakdown of Use of Funds 

The Fund is limited to R1 million per doctor. RH Services recommends the following allocation structure:

​

​​​a.  New Facilities:

     • Medical Equipment – 20%

     • Leasehold Improvements and Furniture – 40%

     • Technology and Software – 10%

     • Working Capital – 30%

​

​b.  Existing Facilities (Acquisition):

     • Acquisition – 70%

     • Rebranding – 5%

     • Working Capital – 25%

​

​c.  Presentation of Use of Funds:

     • Detailed breakdown per category

     • Justification for each expenditure

     • Timeline for fund utilisation

     • Milestones and projected ROI​​​​

Financial Performance Assessment for Other Sites

​

​​a. If an applicant owns or operates other healthcare facilities, RH Services will require:

     • Audited financial statements (past 3 years)

     • Revenue sources and patient demographics

     • Operational efficiency metrics (patient flow,                    appointment scheduling, service utilisation)

     • Profitability analysis and debt levels​​​​​​
