Dr. Brenda Kubheka is the co-founder of Health IQ Consulting in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is a clinical risk and ethics lead in the organization. Her previous roles include being a Chief Medical Officer for the Clinix Health Group. She has also worked for a managed healthcare organization, Medscheme, as a medical advisor and later a senior manager responsible for driving clinical and operational excellence in hospital and pathology management divisions.
Her experience also includes working in the public sector as Chief Director at the Mpumalanga Department of Health where she was responsible for the strategic leadership of provincial hospitals, pharmaceutical services and emergency medical services. She serves in various board and subcommittees including that of the Cancer Association of South Africa and the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Brenda has published in academic journals and is also a regular opinion piece contributor. She enjoys to mentor young health professionals and continues to coach health leaders. She holds a medical degree, an MBA and various diplomas and certificates.
She is pursuing her PhD studies at the School of Public Health, the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and recently graduated from the inaugural Media and Medicine program at Harvard Medical School. She has a special interest in clinical risk management, digital ethics and social justice issues.
